Spencer A Leonard is a historian of South Asia, taking a joint Ph.D. degree in History and South Asian Languages and Civilizations from the University of Chicago in 2009. He is a founding member of the Platypus Affiliated Society and has edited three forthcoming volumes of Marx and EngelsÕ writings from the 1850s on Bonapartism, imperialism, and the capitalist world state. He is currently writing a book entitled "The Present Misery of the Hindoo": Karl Marx, English Socialism, and the Proletarianization of the India Question.
